4.1       INT     BOARDROOM         DAY

DR. VERT is sitting in the boardroom. ERIX shows him the paper and the board.

ERIX:
What do you think you’re doing?

DR. VERT:
Calm down, Ms Prix!

ERIX takes a deep breath. She speaks; her voice is still high pitched, but under control.

ERIX:
Could you please explain what’s going on?

DR VERT reads the headline. He smiles. He picks up the design board and stands up, crossing over to the window and comparing it with the view of Prixton beyond.

DR VERT:
Beautiful, isn’t it?

ERIX looks stunned.

ERIX:
What?

DR VERT:
The new plans for Prixton.

ERIX:
But… you can’t! You can’t change the plans! It’ll ruin everything!

DR VERT:
We have to change. Your design  is too expensive.

ERIX:
Is money all you care about?!?

DR VERT:
Mextro is a business… we have to think about money!

ERIX:
So you use the people... take their money from them...

DR VERT:
I prefer to call it a 'long-term investment'.

ERIX:
But…

DR VERT
Ms Prix. Why are you so eager to have Prixton built now?

ERIX:
I… I just…

DR VERT:
We still haven’t seen any solid work begin on Prixton. I want results  and you’re not giving them to me.

ERIX:
I told you the last time, I have to plan…

DR VERT:
Until you can show me something other than simple projections, all funding will be suspended.

ERIX:
You can’t do this. You can’t!

DR VERT:
The board at Mextro has communicated their decision. Please see yourself out, I have other matters to attend to.

DR VERT turns away, looking out of the window once more. ERIX storms out. DR VERT waits for a few seconds before taking a phone from his pocket and dialing.

DR . VERT:
Good afternoon, this is Vert… yes… well, unfortunately, she has just walked out of the project… yes, I entreated her to reconsider but she simply would not… it looks like we will have to terminate the project.

There is a slight rustling sound. DR VERT continues to look out of the window .

DR VERT:
I trust you saw everything, Maya.

MAYA (O/S):
You’re a crafty one, I’ll grant you that… poor princess.

DR. VERT:
And I assume that you have taken care of everything?

MAYA:
Of course.
